Xiaomi has long been one of the top players in the budget smartphone segment and last year in August, the company launched the Mi A2, an Android One based phone at a price of ₹16,000. Three months later, in November, the price of the smartphone was permanently cut by ₹1,000. On Monday, the price of the Mi A2 has been reduced further, making it available at just ₹13,999 for the base model of the phone.
Over the course of 5 months, the phone has been a hit with the masses because its a really well-balanced phone. Meanwhile, the Mi A2 also received an Android P update which is something that users were eagerly awaiting. As of today, the base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage can be purchased for a price of ₹13,999 and the top variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage for ₹15,999.
To recall, the Mi A2 has some powerful specs that make it a good seller. The phone packs in a Snapdragon 660 chipset with 4 or 6GB of RAM, a 5.99-inch FHD+ display and sports and 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone also steers clear of the notch displays that we have seen on other phones at this price range. In the camera department, the phone has a dual camera setup at the back with a primary 12-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and the secondary 20-megapixel sensor for depth shots. At the front is the same 20-megapixel sensor and it is coupled with a Dual LED flash and some software optimizations. Moving on to the battery, the phone has a 3010mAH battery that is recharged by a USB Type-C connector.
Here’s everything we know about Xiaomi Mi A3
With the success of the Xiaomi Mi A2, it only makes sense that Xiaomi would release a successor to the phone, the Mi A3. The Mi A3 is still in the works and here’s what we know about it.
The Xiaomi Mi A3 has been codenamed as ‘orchid_sprout’, which leads us to believe that this indeed is the Mi A3. The ‘_sprout’ suffix is used in nearly every Android One phone, irrespective of the company and it is also present in Xiaomi’s Mi A1 and A2, both of which are Android One phones. Furthermore, it seems possible that when the phone does launch, it could come running Android 9.0 right out the box.
As of now, there are no details about the price, specifications, design or release date of the phone, but from the firmware, it was confirmed that the phone will come with an NFC chip. In the firmware was spotted a chip from NXP, a company that specializes in NFC chips. The Mi A3 will be the first phone from Xiaomi to sport NFC capability.
