2018 has so far been a lot about biopics. From, Nandita Das’ ‘Manto’ to Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Sanju’, the time has ushered when biopics are the new trend. A new addition to the list is ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ based on the novel with the same name by Sanjaya Baru. The film is based on the journey of Dr. Manmohan Singh to becoming the Prime Minister of India. The film stars Anupam Kher in the lead role, Akshay Khanna as Sanjaya Baru (political commentator), Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi, Aahana Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi and Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi among others. The upcoming biopic has been produced by Bohra Bros and written by Mayank Tiwari. The political drama is slated to be released on December 21st, 2018.

  • The eerie resemblance of Anupam Kher’s look with Dr. Manmohan Singh:

The first look of the movie was disclosed by Anupam Kher on his official Twitter handle. There is an uncanny resemblance between Anupam Kher’s look and our former Prime Minister. The first poster seems to be pretty promising. It manages to make us consider Anupam as Dr. Manmohan Singh. Given his acting skills, Kher is sure to do justice to the role and the same is being reflected in the poster.

  • To get a better look at the former Prime Minister’s perspective:

The film is based on the life of Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister who served the nation from 2004 to 2014 under the UPA (United Progressive Alliance). It would be pretty interesting to watch something different from the usual Bollywood commercial movies. The novel was written by Sanjaya Baru, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s media advisor. The movie should provide the viewers with a viewpoint of the former Prime Minister’s position when the significant power vested in the hands of Congress party President, Sonia Gandhi, according to the novel.

  • The Life-like portrayal of the actors’ looks to the real-life characters:

Film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share a picture of the entire cast of the team. He wrote, “Arriving Christmas 2018… #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister, the political drama starring Anupam Kher, to release on 21 Dec 2018… Costars Akshaye Khanna, Suzanne Bernert and Aahana Kumra… Directed by Vijay Gutte… Here’s a glimpse of the film:”

The picture consists of the enacted versions of the following eminent political personalities of our nation: former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, former President APJ Abdul Kalam and former union minister Shivraj Patil. We can’t help but stay wonderstruck at how these actors’ looks resemble the real life characters. Be it Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi, Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi or our very own Anupam Kher as the former PM, the resemblance has us drooling over.

  • For the love of Anupam Kher:

The Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan honoured versatile actor Anupam Kher has never disappointed us and this next venture seems to be pretty promising and something one would not regret watching. With award winning performances in films like ‘Daddy’ (1989), ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara’ (2005), this actor has surely proved himself to be diverse and is able to cater any role with utmost ease. With the poster showing him as exactly the same as Singh, we can’t wait to watch Kher showcasing the role. The actor had tweeted, “To reinvent yourself as an actor is to challenge yourself. Looking forward to portraying #DrManmohanSingh in #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister.:)”

  • The anticipation:

The much applauded poster of the movie and the life like cast has had us waiting for the political period piece. The entire industry along with the would-be audience is all praises with the poster and the cast. The Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Zero’s’ release date.
