Deepika is all set to join world’s biggest stars at Madame Tussauds with wax figures in Delhi and London. The first figure is to be launched in early 2019 in London, followed by a Delhi figure after a few months to garner more attention to tourists and fans of the actress.
An entire team of Madame Tussauds expert artists met the actress in London for sitting for her figures. They took over 200 measurements besides ample photographs, to create an authentic likeness. Deepika says she feels “delighted”. The actress also added in a statement, “The sitting with the team of experts was a special experience and I look forward to the incredible figure at the attraction.”
Anshul Jain, General Manager and Director, Merlin Entertainments India Pvt Ltd, stated, “Deepika is an extremely talented actress that Bollywood has seen over the years. Her fan following is huge and is growing across the world. Her beauty has won the hearts of millions across the nation and worldwide. We are thrilled to announce her figure at the Delhi attraction. We are certain that our guests will love to see her wax figure.”
Deepika Padukone is the daughter of a renowned badminton player Prakash Padukone. She began her journey with Shahrukh Khan Starrer, Om Shanti Om. Since then, she has never looked behind. The award winning actress has won hearts of millions of Indians and has conquered the BoxOffice with her back to back blockbusters and amazing acting skills. It has been a surging journey for her. She has also done diverse films like Piku and Padmavat. Known for her versatility and confidence, Deepika has also done a Hollywood movie “xXx: Return of the Xander Cage” across Vin Diesel, Nina Dobrev and Ruby Rose.
The actress is soon to be immortalized as a wax statue alongside a list of other Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Madhuri Dixit Nene who already have their iconic wax counterparts at the Madam Tussauds museum in London. She mentions about the same at a Facebook live session, “It’s an amazing feeling, to be honest. It’s fun and exciting. And in a way, I think I feel a lot of gratitude as well when you give back to your fans…”
On being asked what her reaction was when she received the call from Madame Tussauds, the atress says, “Very, very excited. The only time I visited Madamme Tussauds was in London when I was very little with my parents. That memory has sort of stayed with me, obviously. And then to receive a letter and now to be a part of that, and to actually experience what goes into making these wax figures. I think Madame Tussauds is so iconic in so many ways so it’s really special.”
The actress also mentions that she first visited Madame Tussauds when she was a little girl. Deepika says, “The feeling of meeting someone that you may never meet in your life…the entire journey is something I will never forget. The only thing that can top that experience now is when we go back to the museum next year with my figure.” When being asked what the wax figure would be wearing, she says, “I think it will be something that represents India, because those are my root, that’s my culture, that’s where I come from, but at the same time something that’s relatable to a global audience.”
Deepika’s wax statue needs to be better than that of boyfriend Ranveer’s first ever wax-statue at Musee Grevin in Paris. Well, we can’t blame him for skipping the figure’s unveiling ceremony. Deepika was also named as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. The Padmavat actress also reveals that Shoojit Sirkar’s Piku is the film she has enjoyed working on the most. The gorgeous actress will next be seen making a special appearance in Shahrukh Khan starrer Zero.
