Moto E5 Play Android Oreo (Go Edition) Launched

Back in May 2018, Motorola had launched its six new latest smartphones in its G-series and E-series flagship. The Moto E-series variant was released to cater to the entry-segment as the new offerings – the Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus, and Moto E5 Play which were positioned below the respective Moto G6 models.

While the Moto E5 Play has came to be as one of the exclusive smartphone of America as of now, as it is now launching in European and Latin American countries, but this time it runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) instead of the full Android Oreo. Apart from that, there are some changes in terms of specifications and features as well. With rumours which is spreading after the Samsung’s announcement of its first Android Go smartphone, Motorola has announced the new variant of Moto E5 Play in the market that takes advantage of Google’s optimised version of Android for the budget handsets.

Moto E5 Play price

The Moto E5 Play with the latest Go Android Oreo will be available in some of the European and Latin American markets by the end of this month. The smartphone has been priced at EUR 109 which is roughly Rs. 8,700 in Indian currency. Motorola has not yet revealed release date and prices of the Moto E5 Play (Go edition) handset in Indian market as of now.

Operating system and Display

The smartphone has a display of 5.2-inch with 16:9 aspect ratio in the original Moto E5 Play, the new Moto E5 Play variant sports a 5.3-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The two smartphone share a similar basic design, which also includes the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor underneath the Moto logo.

Camera department

This variant sports the same 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with support for flash.

RAM

Some of the other specifications like the processor and RAM, have not been specified by the company officials as of now. While the original Moto E5 Play model comes with 2GB of RAM, the Android Go model could come with 1GB RAM as that is the limit for Android Go handsets.

Battery

The smartphone is fueled with a battery of 2800mAh which is a non-removable one, water-repellent coating,  and is powered by a processor of Snapdragon 425/ 427 SoC.

Storage

The inbuilt storage in the smartphone is 16GB, which can be extended further via microSD card (up to 128GB).
