Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani(Dhirubhai Ambani ) was born on 28 December 1932, at Chorwad, Junagarh (now the state of Gujarat, India) to Hirachand Gordhanbhai Ambani and Jamnaben in a Modh family of very moderate means. His father was employed as a school teacher while his mother was a homemaker. right from an early age, he was aware of the insufficiencies that the family dealt with due to the meagre income of his father and large expenses. he Married With Kokilaben Ambani in 1955. He Has 4 Children Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani, Nina Kothari, Deepti Salgaonkar.

Ever since childhood, Dhirubhai was more keen on work than studies and repeatedly bunked classes and roamed in streets, watching people work and making money. He’d once said his mother to stop lamenting about the hardships and that he would make “heaps of money one day.”  He was not Too Much Interested In Schooling & His Studies. he always Wanted to make Money & Explore the Ideas, how To makes More Money.

He Started His Early Education here From Junagarh, But He was Not Eager to Attend The Classes So He Joined The Union Parties. he was elected as the General Secretary of the Junagarh State Union. It was his passion and active political involvement that brought him to the notice of political leaders. Leaving aside his political pursuits, he concentrated on academics and gave his matriculation exams. due to the ill health of his father and impoverished living condition of the family, he had to give up on his education. Dhirubhai Ambani is said to have started his entrepreneurial career by selling “pakora” to pilgrims in Mount Girnar over the weekends.

After Dropping From The Studies he Had To Work For his Family So his Brother Ramnikbhai sent him to Aden, Yemen, which was the second busiest oil banking and trading port of the time.

Dhirubhai Ambani joined the largest transcontinental trading firm named A.Besse & Co as a gas-station attendant, as well as a dispatch clerk. A.Besse & Co would deal in every possible branch of trading.  The company dealt with trading all sorts of goods to European, American, African and Asian companies. He worked with A. Besse & Co. for a salary of Rs.300. It was there that he learnt accounting, book keeping and preparing shipping papers and documents. He also acquired the skill of dealing with banks and insurance companies.

His hard work promoted him to maintain and manage company`s oil filling station at the port of Aden. A. Besse & Co. became the distributors for Shell products. It was therein that thoughts of building a refinery first shaped his dream. he moved back to India in 1958 and started exploring business opportunities in Bombay. he came back to India with Rs 50,000 and started the business of polyester yarn import-export at Masjid Bunder of South Mumbai and later founded the Reliance Commercial Corporation with an investment of 15,000. It was a 350 Sq. Ft. room with a telephone, one table and three chairs. Initially, they had two assistants to help them with their business. In 1965, Champaklal Damani and Dhirubhai Ambani ended their partnership and Dhirubhai started on his own.

he settled as a spice trader under the name Reliance Commercial Corporations. He soon started trading spices, sugar, jaggery, betel nuts and such to Gulf Emirates. He focused on low profits, high volumes and rich quality. Playing on his idea of establishing a manufacturing unit, he soon realized the same by setting up a textile mill in Naroda, Ahmedabad in 1966. His main aim was to produce the best quality nylon in the quickest way possible and in largest quantities. In 1967 his dreams started to realize as the Naroda factory began producing the finest quality of Nylon, but the new company had no buyers in the market as the wholesalers refused to buy fabric from Reliance.

he soon stepped out on the road and started selling his stock directly to retailers. His daring attitude and gutsy behaviour impressed all and soon the market for ‘Vimal’, the name of his fabric, grew and started expanding. He launched his first brand “Vimal” sometime in 1969-70,and in 1975, his manufacturing was visited by a team of technical experts from the World Bank who certified it as “excellent even by developed country standards.”

Soon the Reliance family grew large and prosperous with influx of a whole new gamut of fresh and experienced workers. He later diversified into petrochemicals and sectors like Telecommunications, Information Technology, Energy, Power, Retail, Textiles, Capital Markets and Logistics. The biggest breakthrough in his life came in the year 1977, when he managed to attract over 58,000 investors in the very first IPO of Reliance Commercial corporation and he never looked back ever since. He breathed his last on July 6, 2002, after a major stroke.
